1. Who we are
TaskRand (taskrand.co.za) is operated by TaskRand (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/793392/07 ("TaskRand", "we"). We are the responsible party for your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
2. What we collect
- Early-access sign-ups: your name, email address, cellphone number and province, used only to tell you about the launch.
- Account details: name, email address, cellphone number and password (stored in hashed form). If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from them. We never see your Google or Facebook password.
- Profile details: date of birth, gender, province, town, home language, employment status and interests. We use these to match you to surveys, and you choose which questions to answer.
- Cash-out details: your bank name, account holder and account number for bank transfers, and the cellphone or meter number you choose for airtime, data, electricity or vouchers.
- Identity verification: your ID number or a copy of your ID, when we verify you before a payout or during a fraud check.
- Activity: surveys and tasks you start and complete, rewards, reversals, ratings from businesses and your Premium history.
- Device and technical data: IP address, device and browser type, approximate location from your IP address, and cookies. We use these to secure accounts and detect fraud.
- Messages: anything you send to our support team.
We do not store card details. Premium payments are processed by Paystack.
Some surveys ask about sensitive topics such as health, religion or political views. Answering is always voluntary, and those answers go to the research partner running that survey.

4. Who we share it with
- Survey and research partners: your member ID, the profile details needed to match you to surveys, and device data for their fraud checks.
- Businesses that post tasks: your public profile (display name, photo, skills, rating and Premium badge) and the work you submit. Never your contact or bank details.
- Payment providers: Paystack for Premium billing, and our bank for payouts.
- Airtime, data, electricity and voucher providers: only the number and amount needed to deliver what you redeemed.
- Sign-in, SMS and email providers: to let you sign in with Google or Facebook, verify your cellphone number and send you messages.
- Other service providers: hosting and analytics companies, under contracts that require them to protect your information.
- Authorities: only when the law requires it.
We never sell your personal information.
5. Transfers outside South Africa
Some survey partners and service providers are based outside South Africa. We only send your information to recipients bound by laws or agreements that protect it to a standard similar to POPIA.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. After you close it, we keep payout and transaction records for as long as tax and company laws require, generally five to seven years, and records of fraud for as long as needed to prevent repeat abuse. We delete or de-identify everything else.
Early-access details are deleted if you ask us to, or 12 months after launch if you have not created an account.
7. How we protect it
We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords and staff access limited to those who need it. If your information is compromised, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
8. Your rights
You can ask us:
- what personal information we hold about you
- to correct or delete it
- to stop using it for a purpose you object to, including marketing
- to withdraw a consent you gave
Email privacy@taskrand.co.za and we will respond within 30 days. To delete your account and data, follow the steps on our Delete your data page. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and secure, and analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser, but some features may stop working.
10. Age limit
TaskRand is only for people aged 18 and older. If we learn that someone under 18 has joined, we close the account and delete their information.
